James Byford

James Lloyd (Jim) Byford passed away July 27, 2010 at his home.

He was a member of Pewee Valley Presbyterian Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1964-1969. He graduated from Berea College in 1971 with a BA degree in Sociology and received his Masters Degree in 1973 from EKU.

He started working in 1972 in the Ky. Dept. of Technical Education and retired in 1998. He then went to work for St. Catherine College in 1998, where he was Vice President for Finance and Administration. He furthered his career at KCTCS as the Executive Director of Budget and Financial Planning and retired in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Light Byford; maternal grandparents, Rev. Lloyd and Eliza Ann Byford; his stepmother, Margaret Byford; his paternal grandparents, George W. and Callie Belle Keaton Byford; and several aunts and uncles.

He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Rebecca Joyce Henson Byford; daughter, Holly Jane (Eric) Clark; granddaughters, Ashlyn Grace and Alexa Brooke Clark of Louisville; father, Rev. James Byford and step-mother, Willie Mae Byford of Kingsport, Tennessee; sister, Mickie Rhea (Donald) Hudson of Berea; niece, Dr. Kimberly Hudson (Michael Walsh); great nieces, Katy and Emily Walsh of Lexington; aunt, Juanita Wilson of Falls Branch, Tennessee; and several friends and family.

A service will be held Friday at 1 PM, at Pewee Valley Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8 PM at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kentucky Lung Association or to a charity of your choice.
