We know Sellus has a few diehard supporters who blog frequently on this site, so some of these comments are to be expected because they are coming from his core group of supporters. However, things have changed in the past couple of years and many people (who vote) have witnessed Wilder's pathetic, vindictive treatment of city department heads as well as his outright slanderous and disrespectiful comments about others who dare to question or disagree with him. When the votes are counted, we will see how impressed voters have been with his performance. No matter how many names he can blog under, last time I checked, Sellus and his buds can only vote once.
...And yes, Sellus, many people blog anonymously because this is a political town and we have already seen on TV how you bully those who dare to go against your agenda, so the majority are't willing to risk their careers to publicly oppose you. On the other hand, you know you need spin control to protect your career, so you need to blog under your own name. With this newspaper's fan-like coverage of you, and your significant number of blogger friends, I am sure it is shocking for you to see a local poll go against you as well as Hedden and Turner who always vote as you wish.

@ Loonkidder: I can't tell if you actually believe what you're saying or not, but either way you still aren't telling the truth. I'm not trying to insult you, but you're doing the public and this discussion a disservice by not getting your facts straight.

Each of the younger candidates openly discussed charging for bags (or alternatively for stickers that could be placed on normal bags) during the last campaign. PAYT was first publicly discussed as 'bags only' (without any cans at all). This was broadcast on television and reported in the press. The bags were also discussed at the public forums last April, and in many public meetings over the last year. When many citizens at the public forums raised legitimate concerns about only using bags, we listened and compromised, moving towards providing carts instead (while still making bags available for overflow).

You can disagree with my positions, but at least credit me for consistently having the guts to stand by them publicly. Don't you realize how silly it looks to taunt me for being 'afraid' from behind a cloak of anonymity?

Ohhh new words "tri-junta" and "vassals"!!

Posted by Loonkidder February 10, 2012
For someone who didn't tell the truth about making citizens pay $3 for a decal-festooned garbage bag, you sure sound nervous to me. But, then again, we're not supposed to question the tri-junta's actions, are we? You all are so much smarter than us knucklehead voters.

Hey, next time the tri-junta goes out on a trolley field trip, would you all mind waving more? That stimulates us vassals to grovel, and we sure love us some groveling!

Posted by sellus1 February 10, 2012
Loonkidder is just making stuff up. This Commission didn't pay for the trolley, and we voted to ground it for the season. We won't run it again until demand increases. This is why it's hard to argue with anonymous bloggers: they can't be held accountable for not telling the truth.

They continue to operate it, despite the fact that it doesn't generate any revenue, it drives around empty, and wastes tax-payer money on fuel. Good stewards of our tax money, wouldn't continue to do that. Somebody was "stimulated" by stimulus money, but it wasn't the Frankfort tax-payers. We're left holding the bag, and they cost $3 each!

don't think you can hang the trolley on the incumbents.

dated 2010:

"The project to bring a trolley to downtown Frankfort began about five years ago. The city originally tried to get a used trolley but couldn't find one. When stimulus money came in they realized they could buy a new one."

...says the person who thinks people shouldn't eat out, that homeless people should not be allowed to own bikes, and that homeless people should not be allowed to use the library.

Dear Sellus "fan" who is in need of English 101: I am judging him on what he's done in office, and I judge that this "office" is, indeed, in peril.

Posted by sickandtire February 10, 2012
@ capntrade,

He does have a job. What he does everyday is twice as hard as working in a job away from home. Plus, if he has a job away from home, then someone would be saying he don't give enough time to his Commissioner job. It really should not matter if he does or don't. Judge him on what he does while in office not on his personal life.

Also, look at most of the politicans in office today especially in Congress, they start out as carreer politicans and look where that got us.

"Spend less money", I do indeed support that, especially since it's tax-payer money. To that end, how's that trolley working out for the city? The last I heard, it doesn't charge for rides, and while admit it does look nice and quaint, somebody is paying for the gas to drive around empty of passengers. Though I have heard the tri-junta does like to reserve it for field trips to observe us vassals.

It's a simple statement of fact and arguably a relevant one, if it means you don't personally pay the taxes you're so willing to spend. And shouldn't an "honest politician" be all about transparency? If you consider it "playing dirty" and "taking cheap shots" to reveal that you don't have a job, methinks you protesteth too much. Yes, the "spend less money" ethic is one we need in city hall; sadly, we haven't seen it lately.

I'm paying less now than I did the last commission. Nough said!
I'm also older than the the three that are wrongfully blamed for causing this, when in fact - they are fixing it! They will have my vote again!

@ Sellus,

Keep up the good work.

@ capntrade,

I am also a fan of the "kids" and would vote for Sellus until he give me a reason not to. I think if you want to attack some one in political office then do it on what they do while in office not the personal life. Because no one is perfect. We all have stuff in a PERSONAL life we don't want to the world to know.

Because according to the Christians their is only one person perfect and I don't think Jesus is running for office.

I think cheap shots on my personal life say more about my critics than they do about me. I accept the fact that the 'good old boys' in this town fight dirty, and that's a price I'm willing to pay for standing against them.

I still do freelance video production work (and am teaching this spring), but don't make as much money as I used to because I put most of my time these days into the community and my family. I would like to refocus on my career and make another movie (which is one of the reasons I struggled with running for reelection), but I made a conscious decision to put my own ambitions on hold in favor of serving the City.

As I've said before, I believe it benefits my family in the long run to build a stronger future for Frankfort, even if that means making some personal sacrifices right now. My family supports that decision, and I still work hard to support my family. I save us money by heating the house and putting food on the table with old-fashioned labor (ie: working up firewood and growing food), and by helping raise our daughter instead of paying someone else to do it.

In other words, we don't need to raise much money because we work hard to save money. I'm proud of that fact, and I still think that's an ethic that we need more of in City Hall.
