To the 'undecided' voting in the KY democratic presidential primary:
I ask you to vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton.
I believe she is one of the most uniquely qualified candidates in our history, considering executive and legislative experience.
Sen. Clinton displays a commanding knowledge of the issues and, as a result, directs substantive policies toward solutions. It's not just a product of intellect, which both our Democratic candidates possess in abundance, but wisdom gained only through experience, and yes, some hard knocks.
Her health care policy is an important example. She learned a hard lesson from her failure in the Clinton administration. Perhaps you've seen factcheck.org's great discussion of why her policy comes closest to universal coverage, and how Sen. Obama's plan will leave a minimum of 15 million uninsured. Both candidates probably want the same results, but Sen. Clinton's experience with this issue, and learning from past mistakes have enabled her to craft a better plan.
This pattern repeats itself on major issues such as solutions for the housing crisis, job creation, or overall economic policy.
Sen. Clinton has become a defense policy expert through her time on the Armed Services Committee. For all the discussion of pre- Iraq war issues, Clinton's military expertise gives her a clear advantage crafting the most viable plan for withdrawing troops, and it allows her to challenge John McCain on security matters. It is a valid criticism, not an attack, to say that Sen. Obama does not have the same credentials after little more than one year in the Senate.
The comments are almost overwhelming about Sen. Obama; how he represents the future, and his enormous potential.
I agree, but the future is not now, and with the problems we face, and have inherited from the Bush administration, our country cannot afford on the job training, or a learning curve. We need someone, who can hit the ground running, and has a proven track record. The only candidate with that ability is Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Thanks for reading, and your support.
