The Frankfort High boys and girls track teams competed in the Great Gator Track Classic, hosted by Greenwood High School, in Bowling Green Saturday.
Frankfort came away with five first-place medals, five second-place medals and one third-place medal.
Two of the medals were earned by Mico Wells who won first place in the triple jump and the long jump.
Wells set a meet record with a jump of 44 feet, 3 inches in the triple jump.
He won the long jump with a season low jump of 18-11. Wells has been dominating both events " he is undefeated this season in the long jump and has not won the triple in only one meet.
E.J. Fields continuse his road back toward his third consecutive state title. Fields suffered a minor hamstring pull in the Panthers' opening meet of the season at Western Hills.
Fields won the 400 in a season low time himself of 54.19 seconds. He had a delayed start when he didn't hear the starter's command to go to the set position. Fields was still on knees (in the mark position) when the gun went off.
Fields appeared startled when he looked up and saw the other competitors already running. The only thing left for him to do was start running to catch the rest of the field, which he did, and he subsequently won the race.
He also took second in the 200 with a time 22.75 seconds. This is only the second time this season Fields has run the 200.
Other first-place winners for Frankfort were Major Herron and LaShe Rudolph (girls team), both winning the turbo javelin event.
Herron won with a throw of 143 feet, 7 inches, and Rudolph threw for 71-10 in the girls event. This was Rudolph's first track meet and first time throwing the javelin.
Marla Rhodes continues to be the primary point maker for the girls team. Rhodes placed in all three of her events " fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.70, third in the 400-meter dash with time of 1:06.06, and sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.72 seconds.
Up to this meet Rhodes has been the only female for the Panther to accumulate any points for the girls team.
She has placed in each meet this year. However, Rhodes did have some help Saturday when Rudolph won the javelin.
The other medal winner for Frankfort was Georan Caldwell. Caldwell was the lead-off runner for the boys 4x200 relay.
The relay team, consisting of Caldwell, Wells, Fields and Herron, placed second in the relay with a time of 1 minute and 36.65 seconds. The team from Russellville won with a time 1:35.34.
