Police arrested a Frankfort man in connection to a South Frankfort burglary after which the elderly resident of the home died.
Billy D. Williams, 24, was arrested Aug. 1 for allegedly breaking into the home of Elizabeth Metts Eddins, 88, at 119 E. Campbell St. during the early morning hours of July 21, police said.
Police said in an earlier statement Eddins, who died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, was assaulted during the burglary.
Fayette County Chief Deputy Coroner Miles White said Eddins "died of a stroke due to prior medical conditions."
Maj. Fred Deaton said Williams was arrested for burglary and was not charged in Eddins' death.
Williams was a person of interest early on in the case, according to police. Deaton said police believed physical evidence linked Williams to the scene of the crime.
Deaton said no permanent address is known for Williams.
Detective Alan Burton is handling the case.
