An elderly man suffering from Alzheimer’s has been found near Dayton, Ohio, after his wife reported him missing Thursday.
Neville Morgan, 73 of 738 Colonial Trace, was the subject of a Golden Alert and search by police.
Morgan’s wife told police he was missing when she woke up in the morning, according to emergency management director Deron Rambo. Rambo said Morgan still drove so she wasn’t concerned until he was still gone at about 11 a.m.
She called Morgan on his cell phone and became concerned when he said he was driving on the interstate to Dayton. Rambo said Morgan has no family or other connections to Dayton.
“He had no reason to go there,” Rambo said.
The Kentucky State Police were alerted and a search began for Morgan - a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair.
He was driving his black 2000 Jaguar with Kentucky license plate 294 DGY.
Rambo said Morgan’s family and police tried to contact him throughout the afternoon but were unsuccessful.
At around 8 p.m. Morgan called his wife to say he was in Fairborn, Ohio, near Dayton. The local police were contacted to make sure Morgan didn’t leave and his family went to get him, Rambo said.
He was found in good health and is reportedly back home in Frankfort.
“I’m glad he’s home safe,” Rambo said. “It was just bizarre.”
Morgan also suffers from early onset Parkinson’s and is an insulin dependent diabetic, according to a KSP news release.
