Franklin County and Western Hills will be competing in the Class 2A Region 4 cross country meet Saturday at the State Library and Archives.
The girls race will begin at 11 a.m., and the boys will run at 11:45.
The number of teams that advance to state from the region depends on the number of teams that compete Saturday.
The top five individuals not on state-qualifying teams also advance to state.
FCHS senior Robert Sandlin is ranked No. 2 in the state among Class 2A runners, and WHHS senior Brandon Pulliam is ranked 13th.
Franklin County’s girls are ranked 10th in the state among Class 2A schools.
Regional foe Lloyd Memorial is ranked seventh, with Elisha Overpeck ranked at the top runner in the class.
Region 4 has four boys teams ranked among the top 10 in the state in Class 2A.
Covington Catholic is the top-ranked team, followed by Pendleton County, fourth; Highlands, seventh; and Lexington Catholic, eighth.
