Blue Grass Community Action Partnership’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program continues through Dec. 11. The program is an effort to assist low-income residents with high heating bills.
LIHEAP is a statewide initiative sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Community Action Inc. in partnership with the Cabinet For Health and Family Services.
Applicants must present the following:
>Most recent heating bill or verification that heating expenses are included in rent, with lease or verification from landlord required.
>Social Security cards, or official documentation showing proof of Social Security numbers for all members of the household.
>Proof of all household income for the past 30 days. If a household has no income, it must be verified by a food stamp letter, or someone outside of their household.
The benefit amount for each household will be based on its income, type of heating and number of persons in the household. All eligible households will receive a benefit, providing that they give the necessary paperwork listed above. Applicants may apply for electric, natural gas, kerosene, fuel oil, propane or wood.
Applications will be taken in alphabetical order based on the person’s last name, until noon on the person’s designated day. The office is located at 336 St. Clair St. Call 695-5615 to find out what day to apply.
