Republic Bank in east Frankfort closed in February. Having done business with this company, I`am not surprise. I made big mistake going to them for a home loan. Already having a checking account and IRA with them, though they would treat me like a good customer that I was. Did not take me long to close all of my accounts and move to a new bank.

It's only 5 miles from the east side of town to the west side. It's not as though we live in Louisville where a closing is that significant.

As a matter of fact, all the girls on the teller line at West are great. They are all under pressure now since the east side closed down. Business has practically doubled!

I have to say though that KECU is MUCH better than CCU, and their main guy, John Graham, is very nice and trys to be helpful to the extent that he can. (beaurocracy and all, i guess is the problem and that the other employees aren't much to write home about. It's probably hard for him.)

The Republic on the East side was a great bank. Personal and freindly. My husband and I decided that I should open accounts at both credit unions in anticipation of borrowing in the future and utilizing their much better rates. Typical govt. beaurocracy abounds, no more personal interactions as the turn over is great, as are the number of patrons and tellers, and personal curtosies necessary for the running of my business,(that I got with no hassle from Republic) were no longer afforded to me at one, and only acheved through much headache for weeks, and with limitations, at the other. At one you couldn't even open a business account without multiple calls to the I.R.S. and my accountant, they didn't have any other business accounts I was told?!?! AT both, in order to have a business acct, you must have a personal account and a business account with a savings acct. for both (even if you only leavein them the minimum $5 which is reqired), which combined with any investment acct.s, etc. creates a load of unnecissary paperwork for myself and them to pay to mail me, and makes communicating which acct I want my deposits to go into, a REAL nightmare which one of them screws up frequently, creating a bookkeeping problem that I have to figure out later at home when I balance them. Long lines at the drive thru, too.

Yes, credit unions do have their benefits, which is why I have put up with all this, but it sure was refreshing to go make a deposit for my husband at Republic and even after months had gone by since they had seen me, sometimes a year would pass, I was remembered by the tellers... parked right by the door, and didn't have to walk that huge expanse of wasted space in the lobbies of the ccu branches.

Sorry you all had problems. I worked there for 6+ years and tried to treat everyone equal.
I agree that Kristy is great. Always helpful and always wears a smile. I'm glad to say I used to be her co-worker.

Have never had any problems, I deal with Kristy on the West Side and she is great.

I used to bank with them as well. After Rodney Williams (city commissioner, who happens to be vice president at the bank) acted dismissive and belittled me at a city meeting, I closed my accounts and moved my hard earned money elsewhere as well. Good for you!
