Magees Bakery is awesome ... Baby!

I wanna tell you something about Magees Bakery located downtown. It is sure worth the drive downtown to purchase some of their doughnuts and cookies.

I bought some doughnuts the other day for a work function and they literally melted in our mouths. They were fluffy and light. We loved them and will be going back.

We have previously bought doughnuts from the chain store bakeries and they tasted liked they looked ... machine made, identical appearance, tasted like cardboard with sugar all over it.

Not anymore, I'm going to only purchase my bakery goods from my local downtown bakery.

By supporting your local businesses, we keep our money circulating in Frankfort, support our downtown, and keep our local flavor downtown. (pun intended)

Do you have a favorite place? Give them a little attention here.

Puh-leeze I jusr re-read your post. Are the Schwartz's leaving? I find that heartbreaking. I remember working at The Market House and Charlie coming in to pick up something for the bakery. I was so happy for him that the lovely Alice fell in love with him.

More info, please?

Magees is the best! I only wish I could have them send things to Oklahoma!

My best memories is having pocket change to stop by on my way to Second Street School when I was really young. And my birthday cake every year with the ballerinas.

Lolita, I don't know who you are, but I grew up in Alice's neighborhood. She was sweet, beautiful and kind. I've not seen her daughter, but I am sure if she is half as pretty as Alice was, she's beautiful. Are you just jealous because Juniper Hill's girls were the best? Alice never said a mean thing about others either. I'm proud that I knew her. I'd love to know if you are hiding behind a fake name.

Who care's. You have shown how low you are by posting such a thing, even if it is the way you feel. I'm sorry for you.

I left Frankfort in 2005 and moved to Louisville, after searching for almost 3 yrs I can't find donuts near as good as Magee's. Whenever I come back I make sure to get some to bring back. Even people here in the "big city" love Magee's donuts.

Farmer's Market has pot brownies? Wow! Be careful. The DEA will be visiting. HA!

Its okay, Lolita ate some of those pot brownies she bought at the farmer's market before she posted that.

Imagine the surprise that a family business has pictures of their family displayed! That's thamazing thing about being in business for yourself. They may decorate and cook anyway they want. Why do you care what they put on their walls and how does it actually affect you? I would guess you are one of those people who complain that a restaurant is too cold and wants the entire enviroment of a building changed instead of putting on a jacket.

Lolita must be one of Charlie's old, spurned girlfriends who lost out to the lovely Alice! What a self-loathing thing to say. I will always have a warm place in my heart for Magee's. It was always a treat to stop there on trips "to town" as a child. Loved the old spice muffins - still warm from the oven. When a lived downtown as a young adult, I was greeted on my early morning runs by the aroma of the day's first batch of donuts. The Schwartz's are a Frankfort treasure and I, for one, wish Charlie and his family all the best and will miss seeing them at the bakery.

Wow, Lolita, you're harsh -- and hypocritical. Usually, when someone doesn't like the establishment, they don't patronize it.

The Schwartzes are a very giving family. I don't know how many times they've donated items to my organization's functions. Not the day-old stuff, but straight from the oven.

Poor Lolita doesn't have anything better to do than to insult and to try and start an argument.

When Magee's closes it will be missed. Then people will complained because there's no place downtown to buy donuts. Some people can never be pleased.

I've lived in Frankfort for 41 years and used to go to Magee's for their white squares. Unfortunately, over the years, the recipe has changed for these items, and they no longer reflect the quality, taste or value they used to.

I don't what happened, but apparently it became too expensive, or there was something lost in translation.

I hope someone buys Magee's and makes it better, not just keep it the same.
