Ground Broken for New Cracker Barrel

Construction has started for a new Cracker Barrel in Lexington on Nicholasville road. The State Capital of Kentucky is still missing out on having this restaurant because of a few people. How long is it going to take to decide, that an area full of factories is not historic?

Zoning laws state that you can't zone for a specific business! So, this is NOT about CB, it is about 4 lots on 10.4 acres being changed from professional office to highway commercial zoning. It is a safety issue to greatly increase the traffic congestion at the exit ramp of the interstate. How many accidents have occurred at the US 60 and I-64 intersection over the past five years? ten years? Responsible reporting would ask and answer these questions.

There are many places a Cracker Barrel could go. If this particular location was near my home and I didn't want commercial business, I would fight it - you know you would too. So if neighboring landowners have successfully fought the development, kudos to them.

If... Cracker Barrel still wanted to build in Frankfort they would have jumped at the opportunity to go into the new development at the same intersection.

Yes, it would be great to have more dining options - but for me - a nice restaurant would be a much more welcome addition than a CB.

Having said that ... I would much rather see a real bookstore, a decent pet store or an electronics/appliance store added to our very limited shopping options. Walmart just doesn't cut it and the service and selection at Poor Richard's is just, well... poor.

This is my opinion: It's really sad to see that two individuals (Helen & Crit) can have such a tremendously disproportional amount of political and judicial influence upon the wishes of an overwhelming majority of Frankfort and Franklin County citizens. Their argument (which was upheld by Judge Graham in Franklin Circuit Court) has no true merit in the eyes of normal everyday people using even the slightest amount of common sense. (I have agreed with nearly all of Judge Graham's rulings, but not this one.) Think about it folks; the area that they are claiming to be a beautiful historic gateway into Frankfort is an approximately one mile section of Versailles Road beginning at I-64 and continuing south toward Versailles. Yes, that's right, a trailer court, countless unsightly factories, and Kentucky's illustrious democratic headquarters. I see nothing beautiful or historic about that area. And the site where Cracker Barrel wants to place their restaurant is that ugly clump of rock and dirt at the southwest corner of the Versailles Rd / I-64 intersection. Yes, you know the corner of which I speak; the plot of land very near the democratic headquarters. Putting a Cracker Barrel (or most any pleasantly ornate restaurant) on that barren wasteland would be quite an improvement. I respectfully and publicly ask Ms. Luallen and Ms. Hume to cease their opposition to Cracker Barrel opening a restaurant on the Bizzack property mentioned above.

Go to Georgetown and enjoy your Cracker Barrel experience!

"Look at the butts on a high % of people in this town and you'll have your answer."

Exactly.

Again... What is the Frankfort obsession with food and restaurants (see: Rick's White Light's pies)... Someone please explain this to me...

Sweet Potatoes is very good. Nice and clean...the bar area is seperated from the family atmosphere, so that helps. But it is still just a regular old restaurant.....but is very good!

Hey George Washington I believe you can buy the peg games at one of the local dollar stores. They are awesome to say the least. Please tell me we aren't going to get a Golden Corral, well at least it won't be another Mexican restaurant. I think every Hispanic in Frankfort has there own Mexican restaurant, the city must give them one once they arrive.

Yeah, i agree. I wouldn't consider Jim's Seafood a "nicer" restaurant. What about Sweet Potatoes? Has anyone been?
