Anyone know what's going on at the former Ace of Clubs? New windows have been installed across the front of the building and there's new paint. The concrete parking bumpers have been torn out and hauled away.
The gas station has had plastic bags over the gas pumps for a coupla weeks and you can hardly tell that the store is open. The lights are very dim inside but you can see employees at the desk.
Just curious if anyone knows what's going on?

It'll be hard to start a restaurant in this economy. People just don't have the money to eat out much. If they price it right, they'll be busy enough, especially if it is a family friendly place with hometown food. They'll probably get a good lunch crowd, too, from the state employees, if they are speedy with their service. Otherwise... well I hope it won't be closed for good.

To crazynetown: Being so close to Juniper Hills Golf Course the people running Bonnie's Place might want to consider talking to the men's and women's golf associations at Juny Pop. Couldn't hurt.

This is going to be a Family resturant. They are taking there time to do this right. The people cleaning it up live close. There is supposed to be a bar also, but not like the bars that are in Frankfort now. Hopefully it will be opening soon and everyone will enjoy the home cookin and atmosphere.

Keep us posted. I'm looking forward to it.

The name in window now reads "Bonnie's Place".

Passed by this morning and noticed 2 new sets of stairs at the front doors. Progress is being made slowly but surely.

I've been watching it too when I head downtown. Seems as if they're taking more time to repair things than was done in the past. A friend of mine said that in the past there were windows in the front of the restaurant.
I know, I know we're going to get the "food obsessive" comments but it would really be great if there was a good restaurant on this side of town that catered to the "home cookin'" style and realized that most of their business goes home when the state leaves out.

I am under the impression it will reopen as Saylor's if Bonnie can bring the building and kitchen up to current code.

Need to put the sign back up so it can be seen from a distance.

Last time I saw the original Saylor's sign it was laying in the grass in the back of the building. I doubt that it was taken down with care otherwise it wouldn't have been dumped in the grass outback exposed to the weather. So I doubt that it is in good shape by now.

There has been work nearly everyday on the building. It has everything already property wise for a restaurant. Plenty of parking, location - might bring some of that golf course crowd back that now goes to Casa. You have state offices, the National Guard and fire station. Now if they can advertise correctly, be consistent with hours and food quality it would be something to look forward to. Need to put the sign back up so it can be seen from a distance.
Other non-franchised restaurants have done it here and survived. I don't know what the jinx is as far as success for them.
