All this talk about saving money...

What do you guys think about a city officver leaving his car running with the A/C on while he goes in t oget groceries...for an hour!?

And no, it wasn't a K-9 unit. I could see that being needed.

How many smartgirls are there now? None of them are smart.

And one of them is not a girl.

Either you're a cop stalker or this is a tall tale. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

Grocery shopping while in the cruiser? Maybe. Leaving it running? Sure, they're supposed to when on duty. For an hour? I have my doubts.

Our city officers are not held to any type of standards about their vehicles. It is insulting to us taxpayers when we see things like this. The general public is ticketed for leaving their vehicles running without an occupant, even if they are just running in a gas station for 30 seconds. Not long ago I pulled up beside an off duty officer, wearing plain clothes, with his kid in the car.....STANDING in the front seat. This is wrong on so many levels.

1. Why are you using your cruiser when you are off duty? You are costing the public more money.

2. Why are you using your cruiser to haul your kid around? You make enough money to own and use your own PERSONAL vehicle.

3. Why is your kid STANDING in the seat? I would have been pulled over and arrested for not properly restraining my children.

It is time that we as a city stand up and speak out against incidents like this. Our officers should be held to the same standards, if not higher, than the general public. I understand they risk their lives everyday to protect us and I appreciate that. But honestly, it truly makes me hate the city police when things like this happen and they aren't held accountable.

What were you doing to observe this, following him around? If you knew he was there an hour with his car running, and you knew he was shopping for groceries, sounds like you're a stalker. Get a life.

SadGirl, you are probably correct. Although the police car is not diesel, it is probably running for quick response. Ambulances must be kept running, basically because they are diesel engines, so they do not have to warm up. It is REALLY hard on diesel engines to sit and idle like this. That is why you should NEVER buy a diesel vehicle that has been run as an ambulance.

Well, he wasn't at the ready, he was in there shopping for groceries. Takes less than a second to start a car

Wonder if it's like the ambulance service...they leave theirs running on purpose so it is standing at the ready. Not that I agree, but I'm just saying...

All I can say is that is once again Frankfort's Finest at work or should I say not at work....I am sure the city doesn't see a problem with it as usual. How sad for the taxpayers...
