Has anyone noticed lately how many traffic lights are at the intersections here in Frankfort. Can anyone tell me why we need 18 lights at one intersection. With the State budget in the red why would we be spending our taxes on this. Why is it that one traffic light per intersection not enough? You know that these are expensive to obtain and maintain. Not only that they are not set correctly. You have to stop at every intersection in town which in turn wastes more money by having to stop and start so much!

It's true. On 127, if you hit one light, you'll hit them all. Now when rush hours are going on, you can't help but hit every light because of the lines of traffic....which is caused by the way the lights are timed. East Main is similar in comparison. Allot of times you can go up and down East Main without hitting a light, but during rush hours you'll more than likely hit them all. One aggravating light is the corner of East Main and Schenkel Ln. It holds traffic from the east while people turn into Schenkel Ln. from the west. The one at East Main and Versailles Rd at Spaghetti Junction (old name) lets you run forever across East Main from Versailles Rd and down the bypass, but then only lets traffic go for maybe a minute or so the other directions. But who am I to complain, I rarely drive anyway.

Sure you can. I routinely drive 127 from US 60 to Kroger without stopping for a light. (And yes, at or near the speed limit of 45 mph.) That said, though, if you stop for one light you'll likely stop for each successive light, as well.
I'd like something done with the lights at Holly Hill and at Starbucks. You should be able to turn left at those intersections without stopping oncoming traffic and waiting for a green arrow.

They are not set up to let you go through. If one turns green the next one turns red. They are so close together, even if you drive below the speed limit, you'll still have to stop. Some only turn red, if somebody wants to turn onto 127. That messes up flow even more. No, they are not set up at all to allow traffic to flow through.
I don't understand how they can do it on like Limestone and Broadway in Lexington but not on 127 here in Frankfort.

In Mississippi, if you drive the speed limit from one light to the next, on main thoroughfares, you never have to stop. A friend of mine worked for their DOT a couple summers ago. He said they were set up like that.
IF they are set up like that in Frankfort, then my guess is that you're probably speeding from light to light if you're having to stop. I could be wrong, though.

On 127 it seems like everytime they are are changed there are more on there after the change.
I agree that it is not conducive to the traffic flow. It's like you get stopped at every single light.

I'm not sure what you mean by "18 lights."
Near my neighborhood, they are changing the old signals out, and to do so they have two sets hanging at the moment. I'm guessing it has to do with configuring the new ones before the transition, to prevent down time.
