coppers......

Police agencies around here are getting grants from the Federal Government. The more people they pull over and charge with something, the more money they get. Cops here work the assemply line to keep the jails full to generate money for the city...in the process ruining many lives for minor offenses.

Cops here are looking for any reason at all to pull anyone over. They are very serious about busting as many people as possible for whatever reason right now.

Don't touch the center line or weave when they get on your tail and follow you around. This is the most common excuse they use when pulling someone over.

Don't speed, don't leave ANY establishment that serves alcohol around closing time because the coppers are circling the blocks then like nazis huntign for jews and pull ANYONE over just for you leavign there, whether you had a drink or not. They WILL make up some type of lame excuse.

So please be very very careful!...even whn you leave the car and walk home to be safe, they will look for a reason to bust you with a PI charge.

I've seen some of the same things Hullbilly is talking about...and then there are times like...one Friday night down on St Clair Mall where they were having the Music at the Old Capital Lawn. On St Clair, people were outside going in and out of the bars down there walking around the mall drinking in public, some more than half drunk and the FPD Officers there were so HO HUM, it was surprising. They didn't seem to care that they knew that those people were out in public drinking outside the bars ( in those little plastic cups, of course). The officers just rode around or walked around and pretty much ignored what was going on. Kinda odd?

Bling..... I'm looking for anything somewhat intelligent in your post. Give me some facts. How many people are in this small town? How many Police Officers does Frankfort have? How many calls a day does the Police Officers get dispatched to? Is there not any calls and thats what makes them bored and thats why they look for any excuse to pull someone over? Do they make up their own laws to pull people over? Or is the reason they pull people over because they broke a law stated in the KRS.? Just trying to get some facts here.

Frankfort police make themselves look bad. We have to many police for such a small town, the police are bored and they look for any excuse to pull someone over. What a joke Frankfort and it's police departments are.

I have lived in Lexington, Nicholasville and Russell Springs, but I have never seen anything like the Frankfort police. I have been in Frankfort for 6 years now and the police here are just horrible. Don't get me wrong, I know there are nice people on the police department, but there are some real jerks as well.

I don't drink or do drugs, but I go to one of the bars on Holmes Street to shoot pool, talk to people I know or watch people sing etc. . .

I have been stopped myself just for walking down the street & asked where I lived and even made to point out which house I live in. In America, since when is it against the law for me to walk down my own street? Shouldn't I be able to do this without being harrased?

I have never been in trouble one single time the whole time I have been in Frankfort and not even since I was a kid. Yet I am scared to drive in Frankfort after dark because of the way they pull everyone over down here and treat everyone.

I have seen them hide in little off roads and just whip out and pull anyone over who drives by. I have seen them on foot checking people to see if they have been drinking. I can understand that to a point but some of them are real jerks. I watched one night as a cop walked by a guy in a drive through and just started staring the guy down to be a jerk. So the guy asked him if he had a problem and the cop flipped out. He started yelling at the driver like a teenager arguing in high school. Maybe the guy shouldn't have said anything to him, but the cop was being a jerk to everyone around, not just that driver. They checked the guy and sure enough he was sober. They checked 2 other people who were doing nothing but standing around and all were not drinking, but they just kept sticking their flashlights in their faces and talking down to them. They treat people on Holmes Street like they're all criminals and talk to them like they're trash.

The police here use intimidation & break laws themselves. People may think I am making a big deal about nothing but I am not joking when I say it sometimes scares me to even drive late at night even though I'm not doing anything. The police have been so bad around here that I really feel as though I am living in a police state. This isn't Iraq, it is Frankfort.

Bodeen presuming all people are bad and up to no good is called cynical which i'm not. I presumed by your comments about the "backup officer being a punk" that you probably had experiences with the police before. Comments like that usually ring true. And i'm positive people are checked all around the city, not just on Holmes St. Believe it or not the police will get out with people all over...even if they live in Juniper Hills.

kenage, Speeding is all I have ever been cited for if you must know. ( twice ) When two very young policemen cannot tell a licence picture is that of the driver, then they should be flipping burgers instead of being punk cops.

I had no more then scratched one lottery ticket before lights were all over me. I was parked at the corner of the new ( I say new ) store off the thorn hill bypass & holmes.

I say punks because of all the stupid questions I was asked before being allowed to leave.
I did complain to their boss & was told he would check into it.

kenage, those officers & you are a lot alike in presuming people are bad or up to no good.
I was checked out just because I was on holmes street. I live in juniper hills.

Well, I have seen the FPD at their best a couple of times. The ones that were handling the situation were professional and efficient. But, I have also seen the "bad apples" in action too. About ten years ago, I once was speeding on 2nd st and turned left towards the bridge, under a turning-red light (moving pretty good pace). Low and behold, there was a City Officer right there looking at me. I saw him See Me and I just went ahead and pulled over and waited on him. He knew that I knew I was caught. He approached the truck with a bit of a grin on his face and said "I guess you know what you did wrong". I said "yyyyep". I handed him my license and he checked me out and them as a shock to me, gave me a warning. WHAAA? He said, "I guess you won't be doing that again, will ya?" I said "Nope". And with a smile on both our faces, we parted ways. Now, what I did was wrong, dangerous and...against the law, and he knew I realized that. But I never let that instance make me think I could get away with ANYTHING else. I have grownup much since then and have much respect for the "good guys" out there, ya know?

Bodeen you obviously have probably had run in's before with the police from your obvious idiot statements. The backup unit you call a crony and a punk in a uniform. Sounds like he was there because another officer called for him. That's typically the case anytime an officer gets out with anyone after dark for whatever reason. What exactly did the backup unit do to you that deemed him a punk and crony? Waiting for an answer on that one?

"The more people they pull over the more money they get." Some of you kill me. Actually a highway safety grant the FPD had last year was not renewed. Also if you've been watching, the city commissioners just voted to take money away from every city employee including the police. I hardly think now you will be seeing the officers out in full force working extra hard with the morale problem down there now. "Christmas bonuses"? That's another good one...wonder why every single officer in this city has to work a part time job to survive? And to Christy29, sounds like a civil rights violation to me, why wasn't something pursued if your husband was taken to jail for no "reason"?
