Sandra Coy found guilty of animal cruelty by jury. William Coy not guilty. Sandra Coy fined $250.00 and no jail time. Is this justice?

Tanyar I submit to you that Vick did his time, paid his debt to society and dogdom. (a lot). My guess is that in your world nobody gets a second chance.
My point in bringing Mr. Vick up was that these folks got a walk by comparison. No jail time and a slap on the wrist.

They're just animals... People get less worked up over child molesters than they do over animals.
Whatever. I get worked up over all of it. The difference: NO ONE Does a thing about animals being treated inhumanely, nothing...
I agree, Piranha, I would report it all. I would report someone beating the crap out of their kid, just like I would a dog. However, it would do NO good. It is the Humane Race, you are so right.
The person that said something about Vick, he chose that route, and with his status, he was treated differently. Sorry, but he asked for that, and he got what he deserved, probably needs more! Chap500, you are right, this post is about animal cruelty, so if we have an opinion, that does not take away from human life either.
Redneck or no, if you decide to tie things up, not feed them, etc. you deserve to be punished.

Yes, Sir, I would also report humane abuse. A spouse doesn't have to take all the punishment that a man can give or vice-versa. A child that is being abused (in whatever way), the law needs to know about it. Yes, I would assist the humane race as I would the beast.
Are we on the right track together?

pwooldri, thank you for sactimoniously enlightening us all about our misplaced priorities.
This post is about animal cruelty. That is why people are commenting on things regarding animal cruelty. No one has implied that they don't care what happens to people.
If some rednecks decide to breed pitbulls and become a burden on the entire community they need to be punished, end of story.

True, Need (or should I call you speed?). Of course he was fighting dogs and killing the ones that weren't up to par.
I don't know what these people were doing. If they were doing the same thing, then I'd say the sentences were too light. If they were just neglecting them or hoarding them, it's a little different from dog fighting.
Still, you're right. He was made an example. The reason: He's rich, he's a celeb, and the judge didn't want the appearance of going soft on him for either of those reasons.

You can believe me when I say that, if I ever see any abuse to an animal, I will be the first one to report it and I won't hesitate a minute to do so.
Piranha, will you have that same courtesy for a human being abused by another human? If you see domestic violence happening, would you report it? If you see elder or disabled abuse, would you report it? If you see child abuse, would you report it?
I don't like animal abuse either, but stepping up to be the first to report abuse should apply to abuse of a human before abuse of an animal. Just saying...

We need stiffer laws to protect our pets and other animals. Animals don't deserve to be abused. Some of them are unable to protect themselves. Even taking them out in the country to drop them off is abusing them because it's depriving them of a home and/or a safe-haven. You can believe me when I say that, if I ever see any abuse to an animal, I will be the first one to report it and I won't hesitate a minute to do so.

Once again, I submit that Mike Vick had his career severely damaged (maybe destroyed) and was bankrupted over his bad behavior, and these people by comparison get to walk. I'm just sayin'...

Not saying that "they're just animals" justifies cruelty. I find animal cruelty disgusting and wrong, but I don't think it's a capital offense.
As for the bit about "not guilty" not being justice, it really sounds like you're advocating getting rid of the basic foundation of our legal system; "innocent until proven guilty".

Ridiculous. There is no justice for animals, never will be as long as things like this go unpunished.
