Are you serious? I have just heard that the old Detroit Coney Dog place is being renovated into yet another Mexican restaurant. Do we really need another taco joint? Come on man!! Lets count.

1. Miguels
2. La Fiesta
3. Casa Fiesta
4. Arandas
5. Gracias
6. Rio Grande
7. Taco Bell East
8. Taco Bell West
9. Taco Johns East
10 Taco Johns West
and now add this new Rancheros.

That makes 11 Mexican style restaurants. There should be some city rule that restricts the number of such places. I would think that number of mexican joints would make business owners think twice before opening another. Hey heres an idea, how about a place to get a good salad? We need a good salad bar, not one shoved into the enterance way where people wait or one with just lettuce and tomatoes and some dressing. Or a home cooked meal? Typical Frankfort.

Given that the Indian restaurants on the West side have failed miserably (granted, one moved to Lexington, where it has been more successful), and that hardly anyone goes to the new Rebecca Ruth cafe (also on the West side), and that a Mediterranean restaurant (again, West side) failed, and Bonnie's Place (West once more!) gets few customers, I would venture a guess that Frankforters are not very venturesome when it comes to food choices! It's either fast food, beef, or faux-Mex for us! (IMHO, Garcia's near the East side Kroger is best, though the service is slow even when during non-crush hours).

However, there are plenty of places to get a salad or home-cooked meal: Krogers for the fixins or make-it-yourself salads; virtually any restaurant has a salad bar or sells salads (the multiple Chinese buffets), and for home-cooking, try Bonnie's Place, Adelia's, Market Cafe East, and many, many more!

Are you sure you live in Frankfort??? ;)

Shame on you...ever heard of prevailing wage laws? Those particular Mexicans worked for less for YOU, but don't say that ALL Mexicans are just like those that worked for you. What you have shown is that Mexicans WILL work for less, if they are hungry, desperate, or ignorant enough.

I have had some experience with Mexicans on the farm. Many had never even worked in tobacco before they came to KY, and knew that they weren't the best at it. Plus they can't speak English, so it was easier to take advantage of them if the Massah wanted to. On the farms I have been associated with, they paid everybody the same. They worked harder than most of the whites as they were used to manual labor. The white boys were seldom in condition to work all day, and it showed when their arms would start cramping up.

The only thing about Mexican workers in the field that you had to watch for was that sometimes they they tried to get back in line after being paid once...heck, they really do look alike.

I raised tobacoo for 20 years. The last 5 using migrants. I paid the hispanics 9 cents per stick to cut and $7/hr to house. This is what THEY asked for. By contrast, the non-Hispanic help got 12 cents and $10/hr. The Hispanics were slow and methodical but generally did good work. The non-Hispanics (White and Black)worked at a fever pitch and got the job done faster. Either way you get what you pay for, but don't say the Mexicans don't work for less. They do. It's a fact.

Around here, farmers do not skimp on paying Mexicans any more than eating establishments...that is just a very white man's myth to justify the REAL reasons that they are hired.

Farmers, construction companies, etc., figured out a long time ago that Mexicans were very skilled, dependable (showed up for work regularly) and very worked hard for their money, making them excellent employees.

Funny how Hitle,...I mean conman's perceptions are so tainted by his racism that he cannot see the obvious.

Because they will work long hours for liitle pay.
Farmers figured this out a long time ago & now every business has caught on.
