This is Frankfort road crews idea of beautifying the county.

To all the idiots out there that obviously know nothing I have this to say:
Has anyone ever met the 'guy up on the tractor' that is just doing his job? Or the inmate that is out busting his butt to weedeat your mailbox? All of you really need to do your homework before you get on the postings and just start running your mouths. First, they cut the trees back because this winter they will be laying over in the road and you will hit them with your vehicle: giving you something else to complain about. They also cut them back so the limbs aren't in the road way or blocking the view of oncoming vehicles. I know it's not pretty when they are finished but how in the heck are they supposed to cut every limb down and make it all pretty just to please you? I think not. I'm not going to spend my tax money to pay someone an ungodly amount just so it's pretty. In a couple weeks the leaves grow back out and it's practically covered anyways.
Secondly, I know inmates should be out working and earning their keep for being in jail. The majority of the inmates at the County Rd Dept are hard workers and trying to make themselves better.
So, suck it up folks and quit complaining all the time.

At least they are TRYING to re-enter society and doing something constructive. And for Christ's sake they aren't murderers and rapists. They are in for petty things and non violent crime.

Chainless chain gang. An oxymoron. I love it.

Give these guys a chance, they are not tree trimmers. these hard working guys do the very best they can with what they have to do with. If all you people that grip all the time would keep the trees trimed on your property than they would not have too. Give them a break and let them do their job the best they can.

oh BOO HOO. I live and travel on roads that they are trimming. The roads are narrow enough as it is and are frequented by Harrod dump trucks and currently tractor trailers loaded with KAW water pipes. Which would you rather do, run your vehicle into the overhanging limbs or take the chance of hitting another vehicle to miss the limbs? I for one am glad they are cutting them back. I have had many near misses with other vehicles because they ride the middle of the road to avoid the constant smacking of limbs on mirrors, windshield, paint you name it. Yes it is a bush hog on a stick and this is what bush hogging produces. I have yet to see trees die from it. Is it the prettiest job? No it is not. Is it functional, yes it is and probably the most cost effective. Find something else to whine about.

I don't want the prisoners to be given sharp tools to cut trees with...even if they are chained!

There is always have the owner trim their own fence line back instead of tax payers picking up the tab. I have plenty of switch marks on my truck from lazy farm owners not keeping up with the fence row. Charge them if it has to be done.
I also like the leg irons, orange jumps suits and weed hooks I see in Georgia. I bet no one wants to be in jail around August down there. Hard labor could make jail no more fun. Just a thought.

Switzer1: Chain gang means just that. They won't run far with "boss" standing on the yellow stripe with a 12 gauge. I have seen prison details used before. It ain't that big of a deal.
