Come On Kentucky. With only 8 days left, Kentucky is second only to Hawaii in votes. Let's defend our title and once again get 50,000 books for Kentucky's children.

"What Book Got You Hooked?" invites readers everywhere to celebrate unforgettable books from childhood and help provide new books to the children who need them most. First Book asks visitors to share the memory of the books that made them readers and then vote for the state to receive 50,000 new books from First Book, helping to get more kids hooked on reading.

Past winners include Oklahoma in 2007 and Kentucky in 2008, with each state receiving 50,000 new books for children in need.

Join us this year in sharing the joy of great books with kids who need them most.

The only required information is the state for which you are voting.

I'm fascinated by anything off the beaton path and have always been an avid reader. The books that got me hooked were Aesops Tales because they were different than the average run-of-the-mill fairy tales. The book that has me hooked now is the Bible. It's the most fascinating book in the world and there are versions of it that children can understand. It's the greatest adventure book ever published and it's all true.

re Webby "I would bet parents who read have children who read." That is not always the case, Webby. I have been a voracious reader all my life, reading 2-5 books a week, and I have tried hard to instill a love of reading in my children, but they rarely read.

I am at the library quite often and always see parents and their children there. If children are stuck in front of a computer or tv, look to the parents. I would bet parents who read have children who read.

it was comic books that got me hooked on reading. and i vote for kentucky to receive the 50 thousand books every day, but, they will go unused as most people can't read anything that's not on a led screen.
