Where can I donate used shoes?

I have many used tennis shoes that are intact (no holes, but the tread on the soles are worn down (still perfectly good, though I can't use them for tennis), and with good laces.

I want to donate them to a charity or homeless shelter, but I can't find anyone nearby having a 24/7 drop-off, much less one that doesn't want them unless they are in near-new condition. Goodwill wasn't interested; local churches didn't seem to know of anyone in town (there are a few out-of-State organizations that will take them, but I don't want to spend $50 in gas for a roundtrip just to give sneakers!).

Any help would be appreciated!

You might wish to check with the Salvation Army on Greenup Avenue. Not only do they serve hot meals and other things, they would find someone to wear the shoes you are donating. May I say that it's very kind of you to do such an act. May God bless you. Someone will be blessed this season with a nice pair of shoes which will be "new" to them.

What size? Quality Care for Kids has a yearly project called Christmas Shoes. They deliver shoes and replenish the family resource centers in several counties across Kentucky. You can drop the shoes off at 100 Diagnostic Drive. Last year they provided over 100 pair of shoes to FRC. Ask for Christie if you choose to. Thank You!!!

Not to sound mean or prejudice, but please remember the children in America that are in foster care with parents who do or do not still want them, full blooded American children who will never be adopted because they are teenagers, please google local adoption agencies in and around your local area, and give an American child or teenager the hope that you thought of them, if you cant send them contact me email and I will deliver them free of charge to see your generousity put a smile, but not just a smile, a hope to believe by donating your shoes.

Have you thought about the soup kitchen? They may take them and set them in the common area, for the homeless in Frankfort too pick thru. Just a thought.

There is a church up by Wayne's Pharmacy that will take them. They send them to Africa. You might want to call them and find out for sure.

At one time our church, Crestwood Baptist, was collecting shoes to send to the missions in other countires. You can call 695-2088 and see if they still are.

You might try the senior citizens center. They accept clothing donations. They do not have a 24/7 drop off, but you can make arrangements for a drop off time.
