This has nothing to do with party politics. Its about whats wrong with our political system.

If people in Clay County or other counties in Kentucky can be indicted and go to jail for buying votes for a half pint or a few dollars, why are U.S. Senators able to get away with it?

We all have read about Sen. Reid (NV) meeting with and gave individual financial deals to each of three US Senators. Sen. Ben Nelson (NE) Free Medicaid for life for new signups in Nebraska, Sen Mary Landrieu (LA) $300,000,000 in Gulf Coast recovery money, and Sen Bill Nelson (FL) "got a $25 billion to $30 billion carve-out for Medicare Advantage patients in their state," "Every Medicare Advantage policyholder in America, except those in Florida, will see a huge cut in the federal support for those policies"

What is the difference between what the Clay County guys did and these three US Senators? The only difference is the amount of dollars used to buy votes.

Vivian, it seems that this vote buying is no longer held under wraps like it used to be. It is now very out in the open, especially in Washington. The openness doesn't make it right, it simply is showing that our elected officials are out for themselves instead of the people who voted for them to represent us.

Here's some Kentucky vote buyer news
"Perry official plans to plead guilty in vote-fraud scheme"

Jones was indicted last year with former Perry County Judge-Executive Sherman Neace on charges that they took $7,500 meant for use in efforts to increase voter turnout in November 2008 and instead used the money to buy votes for themselves.

"Jones had 75 checks issued, each for $100, and left the recipient line blank."

$7,500 ... $300m .... $25B.. Is $100 per vote worse that $300m or $35B for one vote?

As Sarah Palin would say, Betcha them Perry County boys end up in the pokey!
