Hello, my name is Joshua Owens. I am forming a neighborhood watch for: Evergreen Road, Coolbrook, Edgewood, Evergreen Estates, and Cardwell Lane (up to about Michael C. Davenport)

I have heard many concerns recently about the level of crime and vandalism in this area and I intend to do something about it. I am not quite sure who we will be dealing with law-enforcement wise. I have contacted my cousin, (Officer Napier) to inquire about with who we will be working. I will keep you posted on that.

But I need your help. Even if you cannot attend the meetings, we need you on the phone tree to dish out info in a timely manner. Together, we can improve our area.

I know how funny some people are about their privacy. That being said, I will just put my info down here, and you can contact me directly.

You hit the nail on the head. The larger handicapped woman was bugging my wife and scared her. She once came to the door holding our baby and the woman asked to hold it. (very scary, she thought she was on drugs.) If your dad drives the old Ford Ranger, I know who he is.

The Morelands live over here and his mother is in her 90's and doesn't hardly come out of her house.

The guy directly across the street from me has a construction business, and was vandalized not too long ago. I am tired of feeling like I live in the "hood". I have a decent job and my wife is a teacher and we deserve better. Hell, we all do!

Josh,
I lived across the street from where you do now and my parents still do at least for the time being, they are planning to move due to the neighborhoods reputation. I will tell you the neighbors I am sure you are talking about used to (I don't know if they still do) foster handicap children. One of them roamed the streets constantly begging people for cigarettes at their back doors. Another, still in diapers, I personally picked up out of the middle of Evergreen Rd twice while they were doing God knows what in their house. My mother has calledthe police on them numerous times. The police do nothing. On top of that the government gives them children to watch??? As a former Coolbrook resident I applaud your effort and sincerly hope it works. That neighborhood has needed serious help for a long time. Unfortunatly there are not many police in the area. Where I live now we have two State Troopers and about 6 cops and two fireman, needless to say its a pretty safe area. I hope things work for you.

Joshua,

How many motion lights are going to be needed? Do you have someone to install them if we can get them?

I'd like to take a moment to thank all the public servants and private citizens that have contacted me to offer support. I have a full time job, I go to college full time, and I also have a family. So this is stretching me a bit thin.

Bstacy-

One of my main concerns is taking up a collection to purchase motion lights for the elderly in the neighborhood. If I have to resort to contacting the grant writer, that is AOK with me. My poor neighbor across the street hardly comes out of the house. I believe it is namely due to all the ruckus over here in the summer time./

joshua Owens,

I am all for what you are doing. No,I don't have facebook, not really into putting myself out there like most of those sites do. Have a myspace, but haven't been on it in awhile. I used it to keep in touch with family while I was in the service. Good Luck with what you are doing and don't forget to help the elderly in your neighborhood. They are the ones who are easily targeted, but unlikley able to help you.
