Congratulations to the Franklin County Wrestling team for taking first place at the Regional Wrestling Tournament on January 31 at Harrision County Middle School in Cythiana. The team amassed 83 points in their decisive win of the regional trophy, besting their next closest team competitor by 19 points. Among the county wrestling teams participating in the Regional finals were Anderson, Bourbon, Harrison, Montgomery, and Woodford counties. The local team consists of 41 four- to 12-year-old young men enrolled in the Franklin County school system. Coach Zach Donnelly was extremely proud of his boys! The Franklin County team will next participate in the League Championship in Harrison County on February 7 and the State Tournament at the Frankfort Civic Center on February 21.

THE STATE JOURNAL NEEDS TO DO AN ARTICLE ON THIS. The Regional trophy had been held for two years by Montgomery County! You may contact Coach Donnelly at Franklin County High School for particulars and a team picture.
