Why we need to re-elect Steve Beshear
June 25, 2010
Because he cares so much about the richest people in the state that he is going to use the state credit card (which we pay for) to borrow $100m to restart a contruction project. This contruction project is being built by some of the richest in Kentucky. They will personally guarantee the $100m is repaid (unless they go bankrupt) so no worries for the taxpayers. If they personally guarantee the repayment, and this is going to be such a sure fire hit, why not invest their personal $100m into the project and leave the taxpayers alone. Steve - Can you borrow another $100m for me so I can build 20 or 30 McDonalds areound Kentucky. I'll hire many people, create many temporary jobs and buy all my beef from Kentucky cattle farms. I personally guarantee it! Borrowing money to create temp jobs leads to economic ruin LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Developers of an attention-grabbing skyscraper planned for downtown Louisville are getting an assist from state officials in trying to complete financing for the $465 million project. Gov. Steve Beshear said Friday the state will apply for a $100 million federal loan for Museum Plaza, a proposed 62-story skyscraper that would be the tallest building in Kentucky. In addition, the project would create nearly 7,000 short-term and permanent jobs. Beshear said the venture would be risk-free for the state because the developers have personally guaranteed the loan. The development team includes Brown-Forman heiress Laura Lee Brown and her husband, Steve Wilson. Museum Plaza has been on hold since the global financial crisis, as the developers have struggled to complete financing. The development would include offices, hotels, restaurants and a contemporary arts center. Comments
