State Employee Furlough's

Recently, two communications were received by state employees...one from Personnel Cabinet Secretary Nikki Jackson and another from State Representative Derrick Graham explaining the necessity to furlough state employees 6 days during the current fiscal year. The point was made that there have been 8 budget-cutting exercises in the past two-and-a half years. The point was also made that the furlough system will be applied equally with no favoritism given, not even the Governor himself. Well, that would be a welcome change. I mean when did the Governor NOT employ favoritism in one of his plans. There was certainly favoritism when his political placements invaded state government and starting sucking up salaries for doing little to nothing. And what about the favoritism that took place when contracts for the construction of judicial centers were being "awarded"? This being the ninth half hearted attempt to balance the budget tells me that the current administration has failed 8 times. But no, let's furlough state employees without trying anything that has some real substance. I guarantee you that the level of dedication from all state employees will not be the same. I been told that a furlough is better than a lay off. That's like saying that a broken leg is better than an amputation. That may be true but even with a broken leg there is pain and some end up walking with a limp the rest of their lives. How about getting rid of the political suck-ups and double dippers that have become a cancer in state government...at least in the Department where I work. How about initiating automobile state inspection? That would even have a trickle down effect to car dealers, auto parts stores, tire dealers, etc. as we make the automobiles on the streets safer and get rid of junkers that we all see everyday.

Well, I'm running out of time so to close I am going to urge every state employee I know (that would be several after 15 years of service) to vote Beshear and all of his minions in the Senate and the House out of office. I know there would be a new set of idiots that probably would not address tax reform in this state but at least there would be some hope.

When you have a state that is supposedly going backrupt still hiring contractors at 140-250K per year, you have hypocracy.

The contractors are only paid 40-50% of the contract with the remainder going to the company. A good number of these companies are owned by a contactor and/or their merit employee spouse.

You also have inept individuals who only hire their ignorant friends & family to fill positions. When they retire, they are hired back as contractors at 124K & up in addition to collecting their fraudulantly bloated retirement.

When a Republican, Democratic, Independent, or Tea Party candidate for any office starts to talk about term limits for congressmen and legislators, that's when I will cast a vote and encourage all my friends and relatives to do the same. The greed and corruption that oozes from the "lifers" in our legislature and congress is much the cause of all this country's problems. Instead of representing a small constituency that must be pleased in order to gain reelection, perhaps the collective bodies could concentrate on what is good for all of us as a nation and a state. Our governments no longer derive "their just powers from the consent of the governed." "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing is powers in such form, as to them shall seem mostly likely to effect their Safety and Happiness," The Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. The Founding Fathers got it right. We've managed to screw it up in less than 235 years. And it's not Obama or Beshear or Williams or Bush or Clinton or Pelosi who is responsible. It is us. We are the hated government about which we speak.

P.S. I am a non-merit state government employee, and I work very hard. I have 20 years of state government service, and I have worked hard in every job I have ever had. And I agree most of the double-dippers I see are merit employees who have returned to work - not non-merit employees. And this is not Beshear's doings. We are not the only state in the U.S. being plagued by deficits. If you think we have it bad in Kentucky, look to California and the 20 or 30 other state governments who have resorted to innumerable measures to meet their spending needs. Taxpayers seem to want all it is they can get and want to pay nothing for it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

1. The 2009 tax year cuts for working families were not made by Bush. They were made by Obama as part of the successful economic stimulus.

2. Learn the difference between you're and your and their, they're and there, too, if you want to be taken seriously.

But, it's cool that your real colors show through to the people here. It's the first time "idiot" is a color.

There that should give you plenty to comment on and again let people see you for what you really are. And again I'll be specific....you're an IDIOT. Going forward I will completely ignore your posts and I would hope that everyone else would to. To this blog you are a parasite that doesn't deserve my, or anyone else's attention.
