The Director of the Humane Society made a bad decision which is painful for Miss. Goodlett and her daughter and an apology is certainly in order. But, also we should keep in mind that the dog had no identification what so ever, the dog was brought to the Humane Society by the police and there was no immediate contact made by the owner to the Humane Society.I know first hand the kind of work that these emoployees do at the Humane Society. Animals are brought in almost everyday that have been abused and neglected. These folks give thes animals medical attention, baths, shots, wormed, food, shelter and love. All you folks that are quick to judge, have you never made a mistake? If so,I for one would love to meet you. Those of you that are lashing out, including the State Journal, should visit the shelter sometime and see exactly what kind of work they do.What are you doing to help abused and neglected animals?I know from just visiting the shelter myself, that they are now completely full and out of room for any more animals and if any more were to come in today they would have to call on other shelters for help.Visit the shelter sometime and see for yourself, before you criticize them.

If this was an isolated incident, you'd be right. However, a few years ago I was a foster parent for the FCHS. One night I got a call and picked up a tiny puppy that had been tossed from a pick-up truck window and needed to be bottle fed. The shelter Director told me it was a Saint Bernard puppy. I took him home, bottle fed him for weeks and fell in love with him. In just a short time though, it became quite apparent that this dog was NOT a Saint Bernard, which I had doubted all along, as a lifelong dog lover. He's a pit bull. For fear of what could happen to him and because by now we loved him--we kept Jack. He was a terrific dog. My point is, the shelter director shouldn't be so quick to consider herself an expert and shouldn't be so afraid of the words, "I don't know", or "I'm not sure". Over the years employees and Directors have stolen money, food; everything that wasn't nailed down at the FCHS. Just a short while ago I found a kitten in a parking lot and took it there (or tried to). The abrupt and rude girl wanted to charge me $25 for taking a kitten I am giving up. WHAT? I'm not giving up the kitten; I FOUND it. I'm trying to help--but no. She insisted. $25 for an owner give up. It's no wonder the situation Franklin County's animals find themselves in. Shelter employees are consistently inept, rude, and even criminals in some cases. Always a joke though.

I agree with FrankfortresidentKY. Don't take away from the serious of cleaning up FCHS by going after an obviously unhappy individual.

First off Chazrigz, we at LIFE house have TRIED on several occasions to help the FCHS. They want NO part of US, not the other way around. Kyana is right, she is very supportive of Woodford, so lets bash them now, right? We are not "rivals" this is not GREASE. We are supposed to be here to HELP the animals, not "rival" each other. So, maybe you are ill-informed and un-educated about the issue and choose to take the side of the FCHS. That is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, know all of the facts before you post. We at LIFE House are here to SAVE lives, which we do every single day, no questions asked. If we have room, we will continue to help. Period. We have a 0% euth rate, because we choose to. Thanks.

Pray tell, chazrigz, how's your relationship with Life House for Animals? Aren't you being a little prejudice?

As far as Ms. Boileau's support of any animal organization, you are so ill-informed. I've know Ms. Boileau to support the Woodford Humane Society as well.

Concerning the cartoon, I'm sure that Ms. Boileau submits more than one cartoon to be considered for publishing. And wouldn't Mr. West have final say? Why aren't you bashing him? Most of the time, Ms. Boileau's cartoon usually goes along with an article on the Editorial Page.

(Banton down the hatches folks! Prepare for a rant in return).

One of the people doing the lashing out in the SJ, the cartoonist Linda Boileau, needs to come clean and admit that she has a partisan point of view in this issue. She's been involved with the LIFE House for animals for years, and that group have long been critical of the Humane Society. For Boileau to publish a cartoon in the SJ that savages Regina McDaniel without also admitting her prejudiced position is reprehensible! She has no business ripping into her like that without confessing her own involvement with a rival group! For shame!

Grace, tell us what fundraising and outreach programs? Can you list them? I have never seen one fundraising project, except Critterpalooza, which is more PR than anything, there is little to no money brought in by it. They do not connect with the public. There was only ONE Board member there the other night. Yeah, they care....keep preaching that. Talk about emotion, talk to Copper's mom.

Yeah, where is Regina? I mean, if she is really sorry why is she not out there looking for the "COYOTE"??? She is not sorry, she never has been. She is a sorry excuse for a shelter director, no one would tell them to shoot it or drop it in the woods, no one but FCHS. Grace must be a supporter and/or volunteer. They definitely take care of their own.
