Dorothy Belle Hiles Driskell, widow of J. Paul Driskell, passed away at home Saturday, March 3, 2012.
Services for Mrs. Driskell, 85, will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born in Frankfort, KY on November 9, 1926, to the late Merritt and Sally Campbell Hiles. Mrs. Driskell was a 60-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 4075 and served as president and other leadership positions. She was previously employed by Pennington Bakery, Blanton’s Lumber and retired from the state Transportation Cabinet.
Dorothy loved living on the farm, watching the animals, her children and grandchildren, and in her younger days, spending time on the river with Paul on their boat “Our Way.” She was a devoted friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny (Gayle) Dailey; sons, Morgan (Darlene) Pennington and Philip (Kathleen) Pennington; grandsons, Jory (Kelly) Becker, Jonathan (MaryAnn) Dailey, Nathan (Krista) Dailey and Brandon (Andrea) Pennington; granddaughter, Tara (Jason) Clark; great-grandchildren, Victoria Pennington, Kaylyn and Sean Becker, Ethan and Morgan Clark and Conner Dailey; stepdaughter, Susan (Noel) Wise; stepson, Joe (Leslie) Driskell; step grandchildren, Bobby (Alex) Driskell, Richard Hanley and Logan Terrell; step great-grandchildren, Ryan and Robert Driskell; and her dog, Abby.
Bearers will be Jory Becker, Nathan and Jonathan Dailey, Brandon Pennington and Jason and Tara Clark.
Flowers are welcome or the family suggests expressions of sympathy in her memory to Franklin County Senior Citizens Center, Franklin County Humane Society or a charity of choice.
