Funeral services for Rev. Gayle Daniel “Danny” Williams, 74, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Wesley Olds will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery.
Rev. Williams died Wednesday, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, of natural causes.
A native of Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Stanley H. and Mary Smither Williams. He was a retired minister of the United Methodist Church, having served churches in, Breman, Perryville, Frankfort, all in Kentucky; and Westfield, Ohio, and for thirty years, he was minister of the Wesley Foundation at Kentucky State University.
He was a member of the Kentucky Annual Conference of United Methodist Church and a former Rotarian International member. He was an avid horseman in his youth, riding hunters and jumpers.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah W. Williams; three daughters, Julia (Gary) Davenport, Dayton, Ohio, Kay (David) Bunning, Ft. Thomas, and Becky (Wes) Olds, Cape Coral, Fl.; and six grandchildren, Douglas and Amy Davenport, Lou, Laura and Emily Bunning, and Caleb Olds. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Victoria Warner, and grandson Daniel Isaac Olds. Honorary bearers will be Rev. David and Jeanette Westerfield, Charles and Sandra Porter, Jim Burris, and Gayle Dixon. Active bearers will be John Keene, Dr. Andrew Mituso, Samuel Kahiko, Douglas Davenport, Lou Bunning, and Caleb Olds.
Visitation will be Friday, 4-7 p.m., at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, and 9-10 a. m. Saturday at the church.
