Mark Holt

Mark Allen Holt, 61, died on April 9, 2012, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.

Mark retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 21 years in the United States Air Force.  His assignments included Weapon System Officer on the AC-130 gunship, Navigator for KC-135 refueling operations, Mission Planner for Tomahawk Cruise Missile Projects, Chief of Current Operations, Chief of Safety, and Deputy Wing Inspector.  After retiring, he went on to work for the Kentucky Labor Cabinet as an OSH Compliance Officer and Supervisor. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Holt.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Carol Brauch Holt; two daughters, Stephanie (Aaron) Wagner and Kimberly (Brian) Harvey; one son, Nathan A. Holt; his mother, Halcyone Wheeler Holt; two sisters, Marilynn Cunningham and Fran (Bill) Crumbaugh; four grandchildren, Blake and Meredith Wagner, Harrison and Graham Harvey.

Pallbearers will be Jermaine Greene, Mark Hughes, Bob Johnston, Jim Pierce, Dick Smothermon, and Greg Wood.

Visitation will be held April 12, 2012 from 4-8 pm at Rogers Funeral Home and from 10-11 am on April 13, 2012 at First United Methodist Church.  Mark’s funeral service will be at 11 am on April 13, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with interment, including military honors, to follow in Frankfort Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Kentucky/Southern Indiana, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205 or Hospice of the Bluegrass, Development Office, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care Mark received from the staff at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.
