Willard F. Slattery

Services for Willard F. Slattery, 93, of Frankfort, will be Monday 11 a.m. at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Wallace Kent will officiate and Dr. James R. Gaines will assist. Burial will follow in Frankfort Cemetery where military honors will be performed by VFW Post #4075.

Mr. Slattery was born in Frankfort to Luther and Florence Herrell Slattery. There he worked on the family farm before joining the U.S. Army. He was an Army veteran of WWII having received 5 Bronze stars during his service in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Upon his discharge, he became a truck driver for Claxon Trucking Company and after retiring went on to be the warehouse manager for Kentucky State University.

Mr. Slattery was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church and VFW Post #4075, where he was a trustee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hockensmith Slattery and brother, Everette Slattery.

Survivors include his daughter Connie Slattery Harrod, Frankfort; son, Gregory F. Slattery, Frankfort; brother, Edward C. Slattery, Vernon, Conn.; sister, Goldie (Clarence) Cook, Frankfort; one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Martin D. Harley, Bradford Scott Abrams, David Reed Harrod, William G. Glass, William D. Hayden and Dr. James R. Gaines. Honorary bearers will be the members of the Ambassadors Sunday school class and Rodney Craft, Alvin Adams, Larry Southard, Ronnie Disponett, John Lowery and Will Harrod.

Visitation will be Sunday 1-5 p. m. at the funeral home.
