Brenda V. Scruggs, age 56, of Frankfort, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Mason County, Kentucky, on February 14, 1956, to William R. “Billy” and Wilma Replogle Scruggs.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankfort, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Church Choir and Handbell Choir.
Brenda was a 1974 graduate of Franklin County High School. She received a Bachelors degree in Mathematics in 1978 from the University of Kentucky, a Masters degree in secondary education form Georgetown College in 1983 and received National Board Certification AYA in Mathematics in 2003. She was a retired math teacher from the Franklin County School System.
Preceding her in death was her father, William R. “Billy” Scruggs on October 14, 1991.
Survivors include her mother, Wilma Scruggs; a brother, Bobby Scruggs and his wife, Sharon; a nephew Robert Scruggs and his wife, Tammy, all of Frankfort; a niece, Daphne Fields and her husband, John of Paint Lick and two great nephews, George Fields and John Robert Fields.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 4 at the First Baptist Church of Frankfort with Dr. Bob Browning, the church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Scruggs, John Fields, Lewis Wilson, Bill Monroe, Rudy Gabhart and Danny Hardin.
Visitation will be Friday, May 4 from 5 p.m. until time of the service at the First Baptist Church.
