Charles E. Parker Jr., age 88, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Services for Mr. Parker will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel with Rev. Harold Hamm and Rev. Charles White officiating. Burial will follow in Peaks Mill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A native of Franklin County, he was born January 13, 1924. He was a United States Army World War II veteran and served in Japan during the Occupation. Mr. Parker was a retired farmer, Franklin County School System bus driver and Kentucky State Police guard. He was a member of Peaks Mill Christian Church.
He is survived by his children, Michael E. Murphy, Lucian A. Parker, Robin L. Parker (Linda), Nina Nell Parker and Adell Kemper; a sister, Dorothy Parker Hockensmith; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae Rambo Parker; his parents, Charles Edward Parker, Sr. and Margaret Cohorn Parker; and a stepson, Carl B. Murphy.
Bearers will be Christopher Parker, Justin Parker, Dean Rambo, Tom Butler, Abner Lipps and Shaun Orme. Honorary bearers will be Kenneth “Butch” Hockensmith, Frank Kemper, Ken Roten, Roy C. Newnam, Bill Karsner, John Aldridge and David Aldridge.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Peaks Mill Cemetery, Treasurer, 7534 Peaks Mill Rd., Frankfort, KY 40601.
