Mary Hutcherson

Services for Mary Catherine Haydon Hutcherson, 87, Shelbyville, will be Thursday, May 31, 2:00 p.m. at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home. Brother Chuck Umholtz will officiate. Burial will follow at Beechridge Cemetery. She died Saturday afternoon at Masonic Home of Shelbyville.

Mary was born to the late Claude Marshall and Martha Elizabeth “Mattie” Smith Haydon in Shelbyville, July 23, 1924.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, W.C. Moore and Leo C. Hutcherson; two brothers, Allen Shaw Haydon, Frankfort and Marshall Smith Haydon, Shelbyville; a sister, Hallie Lee Tracy, Shelbyville.

She was a member of Beechridge Baptist Church, where she had served for several years as clerk, secretary, Sunday School teacher, choir member and several committees. She was a KY Colonel. She was employed as a waitress at Chicken Villa; and several years at Claudia Sanders Dinner House, as assistant manager, supervisor hostess and waitress. She was also a sales clerk at Lerman and Lincoln.

She was wonderfully blessed with two sets of twins and a single child: daughters, Cathleen (Norman) Dickerson and Colleen (James, Jr.) Hackney; sons, Darryl (Lisa) Stratton, Farryl Stratton, all of Shelbyville, Eddie Stratton, Louisville; former husband, Charles Stratton, Sr.; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gary Gaines, Jared Satterwhite, Randall Stratton, Robert Stewart, Kevin Crain and Andrew Stratton

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Beechridge Baptist Church, Sidney Adams, Bobby Sutherland, Jayme Hackney and Charles Stratton, Sr. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 30, 4-8 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. until service time at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home.
