Carroll Dale Bivens

TAYLORSVILLE – Carroll Dale Bivens, 60, passed away on Saturday, 16 June 2012 at his residence. Born in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Ernest Humston and Mary Frances Shafar Bivens.  Mr. Bivens was a farmer and a service technician for Bennetts Gas Company for 30 years. He was also a representative on the Spencer County Fire Board, a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge Number 210 of Free and Accepted Masons, a graduate of the Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy and was an American FFA Degree Holder. He also taught the 4-H Tractor Safety School for twenty-eight years and served in the Army National Guard.

Survivors include his sons, Ryan Dale Bivens (Misty) of Hodgenville and Todd Bivens (Lacee Goodwin) of Taylorsville; his daughter, Jessica Jones (Chris) of Mount Washington, the mother of his children, Lorreta W. Bivens also of Hodgenville; his lady friend, Michelle Christerson of Springfield and his grandchildren, Cyrus Dale and Avery Miller Bivens; his brothers, Roger Bivens of Frankfort and Mark Bivens (Lori) of Lawrenceburg, Troy Woody (Rhonda) also of Frankfort and his sisters, Glenda Woody of Frankfort and Lynn Tarpley Jenkins (Tim) of Nashville; his niece, Heather Bivens and her daughters Jordyn and Chloe; his aunts, Jessie Bivens McCall of Taylorsville and Dorothy Bivens Kelly of Louisville, along with many cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bivens will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, 21 June 2012 at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff McCarty officiating. Interment will follow in the Elk Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett-Bertrum Funeral Home in Hodgenville and from 3 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home.
