Edwin "Scott' Smith

Edwin “Scott” Smith, age 85, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his home following a brief illness and surrounded by his loving family.

Services for Mr. Smith will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Crestwood Baptist Church with Rev. Wallace Kent officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be at the church Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A native of Frankfort, he was born July 4, 1926, the son of the late Lew E. and Bertha Wood Smith.  Mr. Smith was a United States Navy veteran, a KY Colonel, a member and honorary deacon of Crestwood Baptist Church and Odd Fellows Capital Number 6.  He was a civil engineer retiring from Tenneco Gas and Oil after 26 years of service and a second retirement from the Kentucky Public Service Commission where he was Chief Inspector – Gas Pipelines.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Marie “Bess” Chambers Smith; son, Steven Scott “Steve” Smith; daughter, Kathy Ann Smith; granddaughter, Michelle Smith-Budovsky; brothers, James Lawrence Smith, Gayle Douglas Smith, Paul Coleman Smith and a sister, Betty Lou Smither.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Rodman Smith; and sisters, Cora Beatrice Atha, Edna Louise Goins and Loretta Mae Adams.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy in his memory are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
