(June 13, 1960 – June 25, 2012) Jean Barlow, 52, passed away on June 25, 2012. Jean is survived by her husband David Wayne Barlow, her son John and her daughter Sarah.
Jean is the daughter of Regina Burns Hoskins and the late Charles D. Hoskins, Sr. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Hoskins, Peggy Durney (Christopher), brother Charles D. Hoskins, Jr. (Vicki), brother-in-law Chad Harper, father-in-law Ben Barlow, sisters-in-law Joan Luther (Martin), Susan McNees (Michael), brothers-in-law Michael Barlow (Joyce), Roger Barlow and 16 nieces and nephews, 1 great-nephew and 2 great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Hoskins.
Jean graduated from Lexington Catholic High School and received her accounting degree from Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
Jean lived her life with a passion, an open heart and an endearing smile and personality. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making each person feel important. She believed that if you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all.
Her love of learning was one of her other passions. While at BCTC she was a familiar face to faculty, staff and students. She loved her classes and her teachers, as one of the faculty commented, “Jean simply didn’t want to leave after she graduated.” She continued, “Her devotion, steadfastness and stories are some of her talents I will never forget. It was an honor to have her as a student – and even greater honor to have her as a friend.”
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Celebration at The Cathedral of Christ the King on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11 a.m.; reception to follow in Hehman Hall. Visitation is Friday, June 29, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Milward Funeral Home on Southland Drive. www.milwardfuneral.com
