Edwin I. Pollock, 89, of Frankfort died peacefully at Central Baptist Hospital on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. He was born December 3, 1922, in Mason County, the son of Dr. Mahlon E. Pollock and Ethel Irvine Pollock.
He attended Morehead College, before serving in World War 2 in the Pacific Theater, 1304th Army Air Force Base Unit in Atterbury , India. He received the Bronze Star Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a supervisor for telephone repairs and worked for South Central Bell Telephone Co. for 40 years, from which he was retired. He was a faithful Christian, who took an active role in the Methodist Church in Maysville, Paris, Ky., and Frankfort.
He taught Sunday School and enjoyed lay speaking for other congregations. As a young man, he played semi professional baseball for the Maysville Blues. He was an avid gardener, and he loved sports.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Willett Pollock, and is survived by his son, James Don Pollock (Linda) of Anderson Co., Dr. Ann Pollock Patterson (John), Frankfort, and Charlotte Pollock Murphy of Paducah. He had six grandchildren, Elaine, Miles and Daniel Patterson, Allison Murphy Daugherty, and Lara Heady and Leia Curphey. Services for Mr. Pollock at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 28th at 11 a.m. with visitation at Rogers Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27th. Burial will be in Washington, Ky.
