Linda Gail Applegate Gayheart, 73, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2012 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Visitation for Mrs. Gayheart will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Reverend Chuck Queen officiating. Burial will follow in Frankfort Cemetery.
Born August 8, 1939, Mrs. Gayheart was the only child of the late Fred and Helen Applegate of Louisville, Kentucky. She was a graduate of duPont Manual High School and Spencerian Business College, and worked as executive secretary at Lincoln Life Insurance Company before moving to Frankfort in 1969.
As a teenager, she was an accomplished dancer, performing in such venues as USO shows at Fort Knox and local talent shows broadcast on Louisville television stations. At one time, she was offered an opportunity to become a professional dancer in New York. She was also a talented artist and an accomplished seamstress. She was an animal lover and lifetime supporter of the Franklin County Humane Society and L.I.F.E. House for Animals. Mrs. Gayheart was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gary R. Gayheart: two daughters; Gabrielle Gayheart and Melissa Gayheart Nesselrode (Derek); and three grandchildren, Davis, Erica and Miranda Nesselrode.
Pallbearers will be Derek Nesselrode, Davis Nesselrode, Brent Willian, Donald Willian and Scott Willian.
The family wishes to thank her physician, Dr. James Quarles, and the staff at The Lantern for their care and support.
