LENEXA, Kan. – Clair S. Manson, 84, Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Funeral Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas. Friends may call from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation. Inurnment will be in Prince of Peace Mausoleum, Resurrection Cemetery, at a later date.
Mr. Manson was born on November 22, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and lived in Lyons, KS, until graduation from high school in 1945. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1945 to 1946 and stateside during the Korean War in the U. S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. From 1950 to 1952 he attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he received a Master of Science degree in Actuarial Mathematics. Mr. Manson was a life insurance actuary for 45 years. He was a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He was vice president and chief actuary of Investors Heritage Life Insurance Company from 1987 to 1998.
Mr. Manson was married to Dolores J. Van Dyke on October 30, 1954. He is survived by his wife, of the home; his daughters, Sharon K. Manson, Overland Park; Pamela Manson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Patricia Manson, Chicago, Illinois; Mary Holstein and her husband, Steve, Saginaw, Texas; and Teresa Manson and her life partner, Rae Spratt, Overland Park; grandchildren, Nicole Holstein, Julia Holstein, Braeden Manson and Jessie Spratt. He is also survived by a brother, Dale Manson, and his wife, Mardella, Peoria, Arizona.
