Edythe Helen Gardner Harrod, 83 years, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Services for Mrs. Harrod will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Simpson and Rev. Bob Karsner officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service. She was born in Woodford County to Arthur Shy and Emma Ellen Howard Gardner. She was a graduate of Versailles High School and retired from National Distillers. Mrs. Harrod was a life-long member of Millville Baptist Church where she served as the organist for many years. She was an avid quilter.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lloyd K. Harrod; daughter, Karen (Jodi) DiRaimo, Lexington; grandson, Bobby DiRaimo, Lexington; sisters, Ethelyn “Be” Nash and Flora “Peggy” Knight and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George Calvin and Robert Lee Gardner, and a sister, Lillian “Ikie” Bradley.
Bearers will be Bobby DiRaimo, Larry Sorrell, Jonathan Sorrell, Steve Frazee, Barry Knight and Eddie Knight. Honorary bearers are Terri Sorrell, Marvin Coles, Brenda McEntyre, Becky Breeze, Jo Abbott, Shirley Brown, Judy Conway, Burleigh Grimes, Shy Bradley, Susan Davis, Pam Deakins and Scott Gardner.
