Services for Ethel Ruby Coffey, 98, formerly of Owensboro, will be held 12 p.m. CST Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro, Kentucky. Visitation will be held 3-5p.m. today at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort, and again from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. before her services in Owensboro. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Coffey died Thursday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. A native of Daviess County, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Coffey was a member of the Third Baptist Church and Choir in Owensboro and sang in the Niagra Quartet. She was an avid reader, bookkeeper, short story writer, and lifelong musician.
She was the daughter of the late Estil P. and Lelia P. Owen Chinn. Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elmer Coffey, her sister, Eula Mae Johnson, and her brothers, Clay and Frank Chinn.
Survivors include her son, William Donald (Sylvia) Coffey, and her daughter, Joanne Coffey Brooks, both of Frankfort; her very faithful caregiver, Tammie Conway; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons from Third Baptist Church in Owensboro.
