Angela McCord May passed away Saturday, November 10, at her home in Frankfort. Visitation will be Monday, November 12, at Rogers Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and the celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Rogers.
Angie was born December 23, 1970. During her childhood, she took dancing lessons for ten years, was a cheerleader, and cross country runner. At 14 she was diagnosed with a childhood bone cancer. Following leg amputation, she had 18 months of harsh chemotherapy. After surviving life-threatening cancer, she learned to cherish life to its fullest.
She graduated from Frankfort High School and attended Midway College and Kentucky State University. She worked for state government several years and with the Franklin County School System in the Elkhorn Middle School and most recently the Early Learning Village cafeterias. Angie could light up a room with her big bright smile and loved the children she served in the schools. In spite of her personal challenges, she worked very hard to spread her good spirits and generate love among those around her. In turn, she touched many people throughout her life.
Angie is survived by her husband, Denny May (Frankfort), daughter Shelly Perkins Sewell (Columbus, Ga.), son Jacob Perkins (Frankfort), granddaughter Emma Sewell (Columbus, Ga.), stepson Brandon May (Prestonsburg), mother and stepmother Jane McCord and Melissa Benton (Frankfort), father and stepmother Danny and Debbie McCord (Ewing, Ky.), stepbrother Anthony Darnell (Seattle, Wa.), and stepsister Tara McCarty (Maysville). She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Tom and Jane Long (Frankfort) and paternal grandparents J.C. and Dauline McCord (Ewing, Ky.).
