Betty Greenwell Coblin, 89, passed away Tuesday morning at the Crestview Care Center in Shelbyville.
Born in Morganfiled on July 7, 1923, Mrs. Coblin was the daughter of the late James Zachary and Mary Lily Payne Coblin. A long-time resident of Frankfort, she was a founding member of Church Women United, a member of King’s Daughters Silent Workers Circle, the American Red Cross, the Frankfort Garden Club, the Younger Women’s Club, and served on the Salvation Army board. A loving wife and mother, she was a long-time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and a supporter of its many functions.
Mrs. Coblin is survived by her son, William Granville Coblin, Jr. (Polly); three daughters, Kaaren Coblin Marcato, Mary Payne Coblin (Marshall Thompson), and Ethelind Anne Coblin (Jennifer Judge); seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Church of the Good Shepherd at 11:00 a.m. Friday with interment to follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday.
Father Charles Howell will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Coblin’s grandsons.
