Services for Douglas Thomas Sullivan, 79, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Everett Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Doug died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
Born February 4, 1933, to the late Charles and Gladys Sullivan in Frankfort, he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Bert; daughter Jamie Mayes (Bill); son Jim Cottongim; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Mitzie Riddle (Charlie) of Owenton; two brothers, Sidney Sullivan (Shirley) of Frankfort and Julian Sullivan (Jeanne) of Michigan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Nesselrode and two brothers, Melvin Sullivan and Kenneth Sullivan.
Doug was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He faithfully served the Lord and loved his church family at Faith Baptist Church where he was a member and faithful participant of a Tuesday morning Bible Study Group.
As a young man, he was in the U.S. Navy, later spending most of his career as a bricklayer and in 1997 retired as Field Representative of the Southern Ohio Administrative District Council of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen. He was awarded a 50-year membership certificate from the Union soon after retirement. Faith Baptist Church Deacons will serve as pallbearers.
