Services for Mary Elizabeth Lewis, 93 yrs., will be conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, with Dr. Allen Harrod and Rev. Scott Van Neste officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Ms. Lewis passed away Friday, November 16, 2012, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Mary Elizabeth was born March 2, 1919, in Bourbon Co., KY, to the late Willie Oscar and Laura Ellen Ball Tillett. After 20 years of service as a candy maker for Rebecca Ruth Chocolates, she then became an Administrative Assistant for the Departments of Revenue and Transportation. Mary was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church who enjoyed poetry, writing a special poem to each of her children to celebrate their birth.
She is survived by her son, James B. (Barbara) Lewis Jr.; daughters, Linda (Bill) Hornbeck, Kathy Duvall, Rosemary (Richard) Woodruff, and Brenda Bunyea; sister, Ruby Mitchell; 19 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 26 great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former spouse of 33 years, James B. Lewis Sr.; two infant sons, Carl and George Michael Lewis; daughters, Carol Harrod and Doris Jean Lewis; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Haggard; brothers, Virgil and W. O. “Oscar” Tillett, Jr.; and sons-in-law, Bob Bunyea and Scott Duvall.
Mike Lewis, Jeff Harrod, Eddie Harrod, Brad Hornbeck, Rick Woodruff, and Greg Woodruff will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Debbie Bowman, Robyn Ferguson, Michelle Hicks, Karen Wooldridge, Cindy Hedges, Donna Ellit, Angie Bates, Jill Duvall, Janet Eadens, Jennifer Dugas, Tricia Cornish, and Jay Scott Duvall.
