Ruby J. McAtee

Ruby J. McAtee, 84 of Frankfort, Ky., formerly of Big Spring, Ky., passed into the presence of her heavenly Father on Monday, November 19, 2012. Mrs. McAtee was born November 27, 1927 to Henry and Edna Jordan who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delphus Leo McAtee and a sister Louise Johnson. She is survived by a daughter Vicki Vaught and her husband Randolph Vaught of Frankfort, Ky., and Charlottesville, Va.

She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jonathan Vaught and wife Gretchen, Stephanie Vaught, Sarah Cathey and husband Jeremy, Melody Fryman and husband Andy, Joy Vaught and Daniel Vaught; and six great-grandchildren: Rebecca Vaught, Elizabeth Vaught, Benjamin Cathey, Abigail Vaught, Kara Cathey and Caleb Fryman.  Mrs. McAtee is also survived by a brother Kenneth Jordan and wife Gail and a sister Etta Jean Lynch.

Mrs. McAtee was a long-time resident of Big Spring, Ky., and retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabetown, Ky. Mrs. McAtee was a member of The Capital Baptist Church, Frankfort, Ky. and lived honorably, fruitfully and graciously before the Lord and “Her children rise up and call her blessed”.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 23, 2012, 1 p.m. at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett funeral home, 205 Highland Avenue, Vine Grove, Ky. Burial will follow in the Big Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Capital Baptist Church 1241 Schenkel Lane, Frankfort, Ky. 40601.

  • just did a message and don't know if it was sent.... anyway, sorry to hear about your loss and I'm sorry I can't make the funeral. I know she will be greatly missed by all of you. I did love her so. I know she is kicking up her heels in heaven and talking a blue streak to them all! :) We will have to get together after all this is said and done for you - maybe do a lunch together?
