Peggy Groves

Peggy Joyce Hall Groves, age 65, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012, at her home after her courageous fight with cancer. Her strong will to live, faith and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her eight-year journey. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and positive attitude will never be forgotten.

Services for Mrs. Groves will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A native of Frankfort, she was born September 22, 1947, to the late Morris R. and Mary Elizabeth Harrod Hall. Mrs. Groves was employed for 32 years with Fruit of the Loom and retired from GECOM Corp. after 13 years. Mrs. Groves made many friends at her part time job at Kroger where she worked for 12 years. Mrs. Groves was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dale H. Groves “Goochie”; children, Michele Renae “Missy” Chapman (Dean), William Morris “Billy” Groves (Michelle), Shelbyville, Angela Kay Howard, and Patricia “Patty” Allison (Joe); stepson, Dale Groves Jr., Tallahassee, FL; three sisters, Betty Kelly, Patty Buffin (Bobby) and Brenda Estes; ten grandchildren, Josh Napier, Mackenzie Napier, Tyler Groves, Chasity Groves, David Johnson, Brandon Bowman, Randall Howard, Dusty Allison, Tabby Allison and Ethan Allison; and three great grandchildren, Madison Peck, Riley Napier and Zoey Fisher and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joe Allison, Dean Chapman, Randy Howard, Dusty Allison, Randall Howard, Eddie Peffer, David Peffer and Sean Fisher will serve as pallbearers.
