Ms. Masters passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at her residence.

Laurel was born March 3, 1946, in Franklin Co., KY, to the late William Hutcheson and Helen Cronhamn Pierce.

She retired as an Inheritance Tax Examiner for the Revenue Cabinet after 31 years of service. She was a member of Highland Christian Church and attended Crossroads Christian Church, Lexington. She was a loving mother, proud grandmother and devoted friend.

She was very involved with her family, especially the grandchildren’s sporting activities. She loved UK basketball, always wore blue and white on game days, and cried at every Senior night. She was a planner, remembering everyone’s birthdays, and was a whiz with numbers. She enjoyed her vacations at Disney and the beach, and donated her time, money, and talents to several charitable organizations, as well as small acts of kindness for everyone she encountered.

She is survived by Son, David W. (Becky) Masters, Richmond; Daughter, Diana L. (Mike) Smith, Lexington; Brother, Jim (Reba) Pierce; and four grandchildren, Corbin, Caroline, Brady, and Drew.

The family asks that you consider expressions of sympathy in Laurel’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777 in lieu of flowers.
