Mary Jo Cartwright

Services for Mary Jo Crouse Cartwright, 65 yrs., will be conducted from Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Father Charles Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will gather for visitation Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Surrounded by her family, Mrs. Cartwright passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at UK Chandler Medical Center after a lifetime battle with kidney disease.

She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Helen Goodrich Crouse. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, J. Michael “Hoss” Cartwright; daughter, Helen Cartwright Maines, Harrisburg, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Katie Mitchell, Frankfort, and Alex and Josh Maines, Calvert City; two sisters, Cecilia (Bill) Stinnett, Nicholasville and Patricia (Melvin) Mastin, Frankfort; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Lawrence Crouse, Jr. and James Eugene Crouse. She leaves behind three special friends, Vicki Wiedel, Billie Fightmaster, and Linda Berrie.

Mary Jo retired from the Department of Revenue at a young age due to her illness. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church who had a caring heart and was an avid animal lover, especially cats.

Melvin Mastin, Bill Stinnett, Lance Gorman, Eddie Heathcock, Kevin Stinnett, Tom Molstad, Brandon Fisher, and Kevin Becknell will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Rick Maines, Jason Crouse, Larry Perkins, Tony Duke, and J. T. Fightmaster.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy in Mary Jo’s memory be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Kentucky Regional Office, 250 E. Liberty St. Ste 710, Louisville, KY 40201-1537. To honor Mary Jo, her family encourages you to become an organ donor.
