Ronald Edward Onorato, 87, died Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Marie Onorato.
Ronald was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on May 23, 1925 to the late Salvador and Charlotte Soper Onorato. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, a 1955 graduate of Manhattenville College of the Sacred Heart, graduated from the Hackensack Fire Department School, a member of the 1942 New Jersey State Soccer Championship team, a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Jersey, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII. He had been an organist, a choir conductor and music teacher for many catholic churches in New Jersey.
Ronald is survived by his son, Gregory (Kathy) Onorato of Frankfort; daughter, Barbara (Richard) Plesak of Florida; a sister, Marie Rettino of New Jersey; 5 grandchildren, Kathleen and Richard Plesak, Kathy, Donna and Anthony Onorato; and 3 great grandchildren, Rachel Plesak and Michael and Brandon Bowman. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Onorato, and a sister, Gertrude Luna.
Funeral mass will be Wednesday, January 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, in Frankfort. Father Charles Howell will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road.
